This page is made mainly for my Grandkids, Christina, Scott, Alyssa, Zane, Hayden and Ella! The three oldest have moved away and we're not sure when they'll be together for a picture again, but we pray it will be soon! Six children out of many, in today's world, learning how to cherish Mother Earth, take care of her, to love, respect and help all creatures, great and small. I'm happy to be a part of their lives and hope this page helps them and also other children that's parents, Grandparents and family, are on a magical and loving, open minded path. May we be wonderful examples of love for them all!
Do you love trees? Trees help us in so many ways. They provide shade in the summer and can even help shield from the wind. They give us firewood in the winter and shade in the summer, but we all need to work to help the trees. When too many trees are cut down, the air that we breathe can get dirty and it hurts us to breathe it. Trees help clean the air and keep our planet cooler. When they are gone what will we do? We all need to plant a tree every year or more if we can. Ask your grown ups to help you pick out a good tree for your yard or space and then find out about that tree, to see if its the right kind for the area that you live in. Remember, to dig the hole deep for the roots and water the tree alot and often. There are many different kinds, so have fun and remember to help the trees!!
It's summer, but not for much longer where I live in Virginia. What about where you live? This summer has been very hot, even over 100 degrees in many places. Getting in a pool, creek, sprinkler or dancing in the rain, is a great way to cool down and fun too! Never get in water unless there is an adult there to help you or make sure you're safe! When it's very hot outside, some people need to be careful and stay in the shade or in their houses to stay cool. The sun can make some people sick and burn our skin, also making us feel ill. Take care to not spend TOO much time in the sun when its really, really hot out. If you have plants your growing or a garden, you may need to help water it sometimes if it doesn't rain enough to help it grow. When it does rain, use bucket or containers to save the rain water for another day when the plants need it and it doesn't rain. Some people use "rain barrels" to save the rain in to use the water for their garden or lawns. Click here to see a website about, "How to make a Rain Barrel."
Ask your parents if you can make popsicles, jello or something cool to drink or eat to help you and your family stay cool!
I hope you and you're family are enjoying Summer and remember to give your pets plenty of water and food. Pets need shade and to be cool in the summer or they can
over heat and get sick.

What did you do on Earth Day? More information about Earth Day and Arbor Day at the bottom of this page. Here are some things you can do, even if Earth day's over, we can make Earth day everyday and do nice things to help the Earth. Here's a list of things we can all do to help.
1) Recycle, reduce and reuse.
(2) Save energy by putting cans, paper and other items that can be recycled in the recycling bins.
(3) Repair things to make them last longer.
(4) Show your parents the "EnergyStar" on items and applicances when they buy to help save energy and use less power.
(5) Turn off the water when brushing your teeth, conserve water.
(6) Use recycled products with this symbol on them.
(7) Turn off lights, computers, tv's and other electrical things when your not using them or in the room to save energy.
(8) Plant trees for shade and to help clean our air, for fruit to eat and protect against strong winds. Trees also make everything more beautiful!

The gentle, soothing rain-like sound of beans falling through a rainstick is a wonderful meditation device, helping to calm us and bring us to a place of deep peace. And did you know that you can make your own rainstick for a fraction of the cost of a purchased one? You can, and the process is so much fun!
If you’re looking for an easy project that will help you to unwind, try this. You can make rainsticks with your children, too--and the results are beneficial for the whole family. Here are the easy directions:
For each rainstick, you will need:
A heavy cardboard mailing tube with two end pieces
One pound of nails, the same length as the diameter of the tube.
1 to 2 cups of different-sized dried beans and/or raw rice
A hammer
Glue or tape
Duct tape, contact paper, or other craft paper
paints and brushes (optional)
1. Hammer the nails all over the tube, as far as they will go. This is a great way to release pent-up end-of-winter frustration--and the cardboard tube should be sturdy enough to withstand it!) You can make an even pattern or do this in a random way, as you choose.
2. Glue or tape one of the ends in place. Pour beans into the open end.
3. Glue or tape the other end in place.
4. Cover the rainstick with duct tape or contact paper, or glue craft paper on it, to help keep the nails in place. You may want to paint or decorate your rainstick to personalize it.
5. To use your rainstick, simply hold it upright and allow the beans and rice to fall through the nails. Then turn the other end up and allow them to fall through the other way.
